Sephora launches shopping app inside ChatGPT
Sephora has launched its app within ChatGPT, as the beauty retailer pushes for AI-driven customer experiences.
The app, which is being piloted in the US, allows customers to discover, personalise, and purchase beauty products through conversations on the AI platform.
ChatGPT users will prompt beauty advice in the chat (such as “Sephora, help me find a foundation for dry skin”), and can then use the Sephora app that will appear. The answers are based on preferences from the customer’s Sephora Beauty Insider account profile if they choose to link their Beauty Insider account to the app.
In the future, US users will also be able to complete their purchase directly within the app.
“Beauty clients around the world are increasingly open to AI-powered guidance, as many use technology to discover brands, trends, and routines,” said Nadine Graham, Sephora North America GM of e-commerce.
“By blending our digital retailer expertise with new AI tools, we are creating new seamless and conversational experiences that are not only efficient but helpful for beauty consumers.”
In addition to customer-facing innovation, Sephora and OpenAI will explore broader collaboration across the beauty retailer’s global operations.
