Prompt to purchase: DoorDash brings grocery shopping to ChatGPT
DoorDash has partnered with OpenAI to make its grocery and delivery service available through ChatGPT as a shopping app.
The collaboration integrates DoorDash’s products and logistics network into ChatGPT, giving users access to retailers including Kroger, Safeway, Bi-Rite, Schnucks, Fairway Markets and Wegmans.
“The DoorDash app in ChatGPT is another step toward our vision of connecting AI directly with real-world services to help people save time and effort in everyday tasks,” said Nick Turley, VP, head of ChatGPT.
Using the app, users can move from meal inspiration to grocery checkout in a single flow.
After enabling DoorDash in the ChatGPT app settings and logging in, users can ask for recipe or meal ideas, then prompt ChatGPT to generate a shoppable grocery list based on suggested ingredients.
The list is built directly in chat and can be reviewed and checked out in the DoorDash app, with orders fulfilled by nearby stores.
“AI is unlocking a new search and discovery experience for consumers that is dynamic and personalised,” added Andy Fang, co-founder at DoorDash.
“As we expand this experience to more shopping categories, our focus is on building AI tools that give people time back and make local shopping easier.”
