Australia Post searches for fledgling online businesses

In a bid to help small online businesses, Australia Post has expanded its annual Local Business Heroes program with a total prize pool package of $500,000.

The postal company has extended the program to include 100 recipients to provide an opportunity for more businesses to participate, amid rising inflation and interest rate hikes.

Through the program, local business owners can get the specific support they need in areas including reaching new customers through in-store promotions, localised mail promotions, support in streamlining parcel operations, in-person coaching sessions or adopting essential work-from-home technology.

Gary Starr, executive GM of parcel post & e-commerce services at Australia Post, said this year’s prize pool would provide “critical support” as small businesses compete with a range of headwinds.

“The Local Business Heroes program not only shines a spotlight on these important operators but importantly helps them succeed through coaching, marketing and technology support.”

Businesses selling products online and existing customers of Australia Post can participate in the program.

Successful applicants will each receive a Heroes Package worth $5000 of products and services.
