Woolworths axes members-only program Bunch

Woolworths will discontinue its members-only program Bunch, which offers shoppers free samples in exchange for product reviews, later this month.

The company said the standalone Bunch platform in Australia and New Zealand will officially close on October 27, as it brings ratings and reviews directly to the Woolworths website and app.

“We are evolving our approach to product feedback by bringing ratings and reviews directly to where our customers shop every day on the Woolworths website and app. Integrating reviews into our main digital store and checkout creates a single, seamless experience that gives member insights far greater reach and impact,” the retailer said.

Woolworths launched Bunch as a small pilot panel in 2016 and began rolling out the platform to the wider public in 2017. Members can receive free grocery samples to taste, test and review on the site, as well as engage with each other through forums to share tips and recipes.

The Bunch site will remain open in read-only mode until October 27. While members can no longer create new posts and comments, they can export and save their published recipes, articles, and bookmarks.

After that date, the platform will no longer be accessible. Past reviews will remain visible under Bunch usernames on the Woolworths website to help fellow shoppers.

From now on, customers can submit a review directly on the Woolworths website whenever they make an online purchase.

As a thank you for their contribution over the years, the company said Bunch users will receive special booster offers on the Everyday Rewards app.
