Wendy’s and DoorDash launch drone delivery trial in Virginia
Online food delivery platform DoorDash has partnered with drone delivery company Wing to offer consumers in Virginia drone delivery service, with Wendy’s being the pilot’s first restaurant partner.
As part of the trial, DoorDash customers with an eligible address are given a drone delivery option when they order eligible menu items from the Wendy’s location at 2355 N Franklin Street. The order will be delivered via a Wing drone in 30 minutes or less.
The collaboration aims to provide a quick and sustainable delivery option for small, short-distanced orders while creating the potential for order growth across the DoorDash platform.
The pilot will initially be available in Christiansburg with plans to explore other cities in the US later this year.
This follows the pilot program that DoorDash and Wing launched in Australia in 2022, which currently has more than 60 participating merchants.
