Umall launches click and collect in Sydney as annual revenue nears $100 million

Online grocery marketplace Umall has introduced its click-and-collect service, starting across Sydney with 14 pick-up points. Along with the launch, the company expects its annual revenue forecast to exceed $100 million.

Customers can order fresh groceries through the platform, which are stocked in-store across Australian supermarkets in Sydney, including Woolworths and Coles, and then collect the orders from a nearby pick-up point.

“Centralised drop-off points allow us to serve more customers faster while maintaining freshness and quality,” said a company spokesperson.

Enabling drivers to deliver multiple orders to a single location, the company says this model will improve peak-hour delivery quality, reduce delivery costs, and offer a greener shipping option.

The company says that using AI-powered tools in the delivery and warehouse system allows the platform to optimise warehouse rhythms and delivery schedules, based on analysed sales data.

The Australian-Chinese platform is scheduled to expand its network across Sydney next year, where over 2100 orders are now generated daily, with the launch in Melbourne to follow soon after.

Recently, Umall has acquired Asian Grocer Online as part of a broader strategy to expand its footprint in the multicultural grocery sector.
