Uber introduces instant store pickup and delivery service in Australia
Uber has added its instant delivery service Store Pickup to its app, enabling many Australians to have their prepaid in-store purchases delivered to their homes with real-time tracking.
“We’re doubling down on convenience and offering Australians an easier way to get what they need, when they need it,” said Mathieu Maire, director of consumer operations, Uber ANZ.
“With Store Pickup, getting what you need in a hurry is simple.”
More than half of online shoppers are interested in having items ordered online picked up from a physical store on the same day, according to a report by Techspectations last year.
By selecting a pickup service on the Uber app, items purchased online that are available for quick pickup will be delivered to shoppers’ doorsteps by a Uber delivery person and can be tracked in real-time through the shipping process.
Store Pickup feature is available on Uber’s latest app in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide for items under $500 in retail value.
Earlier, Uber launched a new feature called Dine Out, which allows the Uber Eats app to be used as a way to get more affordable dining options across Sydney.
