Turn Facebook into an online shop
BigCommerce Turns Facebook™ Into a Shopping Centre
Australian Company Powering New Era in Online Retail
September 15, 2011
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – BigCommerce is today rolling out a new Facebook application called SocialShop 2 that allows online retailers to turn their Facebook pages into fully functioning online stores for free.
Retailers can now sell their products to over 750 million people via Facebook. Everything from product browsing to viewing photos, checking out and managing orders can now be done inside Facebook.
“With SocialShop 2 we’re helping online retailers get their products in front of millions of potential customers, no matter where they happen to be online. E-Commerce is no longer just about setting up an online store and having the ‘if you build it they will come’ mentality.
With the release of their new Facebook application, BigCommerce becomes the only e-commerce platform in the world that offers full end-to-end multi-
channel retailing via your own BigCommerce-powered online store, Facebook andmobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad – for 20,000 merchants in over 75 countries around the world.
BigCommerce co-founder Eddie Machaalani added that it was time for online retailers to start thinking multi-channel.
“Five years ago you simply setup a website, ran some Google ads and hoped you’d do well. Today it’s all about using an e-commerce platform that lets you sell everywhere. You need your own online store, but it has to be complimented by a presence on Facebook, as well as a mobile-optimized store.
“You can no longer expect shoppers to come to your website. You have to go to them – before your competitors do,” added Machaalani.
Without ever leaving Facebook, your fans can browse products, fill their cart, purchase, manage orders, redeem gift certificates, write product reviews and more. Integration is easy and SocialShop 2 is free with all BigCommerce plans.
