Shopify merchants hit record $17.8 billion in BCFM sales

Shopify merchants globally hit a record $17.8 billion in sales during the Black Friday-Cyber Monday (BFCM) weekend, surging 24 per cent year on year.
The e-commerce platform noted that more than 76 million consumers purchased from a Shopify merchant during BFCM.
The top-selling countries were the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and Germany, while the top product categories by order were clothing tops, cosmetics, fitness and nutrition, pants, and activewear.
In Australia, the average cart price rose 23 per cent to $199.12 while point-of-sale transactions surged 29 per cent, indicating a continued rise in in-store shopping.
“While the cost-of-living continues to influence consumer shopping behaviour, the number of Australians purchasing from merchants grew 14 per cent, suggesting many are becoming more strategic with their spending as they seize value-driven deals,” said Shaun Broughton, Japac MD at Shopify.
“By taking a unified approach across online and offline channels, retailers have managed to capitalise on evolving consumer behaviours to ensure they capture a significant share of wallet this holiday.”
