Sherpa delivers record Father’s Day volume

On-demand delivery company Sherpa reached a record number of deliveries for this Father’s Day – 60 per cent higher than last year.

During the weekend of Father’s Day (4-5 September), the company made more than 40,000 same day deliveries. Some of the most popular items were technology products, cakes, donuts, flowers, wine and scotch.

“It’s clear now that the current demand for our service will simply roll into Christmas peak,” said Duncan Brett, CEO of Sherpa.

“We had expected some time to come up for air to prepare for that period, but we now believe this will not happen, and this very strong demand will simply continue right through into January.”

The company has also partnered with global fulfillment automation platform Starshipit to fast track its offering to hundreds of retailers. Online retailers selling on platforms such as Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento, can now offer their customers same day delivery at their checkout as well as set the delivery price.

“More than ever, customers are demanding faster delivery and they want to see their goods arrive in real time with live tracking,” Brett said.

“They decide how long they want to wait to have the product in their hands and we now know that 80 per cent of online shoppers want same-day delivery.”
