Sendle raises $45 million to grow in US market

Delivery provider Sendle has completed a $45 million Series C funding round to further it’s market expansion in the United States.

Led by Afterpay-backed AP Ventures, the funding round will allow the business to expand its international business – which has grown tenfold since 2019 – and put the business in a good position for it’s next phase of growth, according to Sendle chief executive James Chin Moody.

“As we gear up for further growth in the United States, AP Ventures brings valuable experience in international expansion through Afterpay’s own success in North America as the number one buy-now-pay-later service,” said Chin Moody.

“With the e-commerce opportunity exploding right now, funds from Series C will go a long way towards ensuring we are well positioned for our next phase of growth.”

AP Ventures chief executive officer Hein Vogel will join the Sendle board as part of the transaction.

“Parcel delivery is the backbone of today’s e-commerce ecosystem as more people than ever now shop and sell online,” Vogel said.

“As this trend continues to grow, so will the importance of small business shipping in helping online sellers create a meaningful competitive advantage so they can thrive in the age of e-commerce.

“We’re thrilled to be onboard as Sendle enters its next phase of growth and becomes another Australian success story in the United States.”
