Salvo’s Stores cracks 1 million milestone online

The Salvation Army’s retail network, Salvos Stores, is marking the fifth anniversary of its e-commerce stores with a milestone of selling 1 million items online, with 713 tonnes of items circulated.

The Salvation Army funds support services around the country from the sale of thousands of donated vintage products through its Salvos’ Stores, while also encouraging the circular economy and providing an alternative to fast fashion.

“Whether it’s shopping sustainably for an Autumn outfit, finding a vintage treasure for the house, or buying a gift for a friend who is doing it tough, we have a large variety of items that make a real difference for people and the planet,” said Sarah Knop, Salvos Stores’ acting GM.

With more than 400 support centres and 2000 services around Australia, The Salvation Army aims to support the most vulnerable individuals in the community by funding services such as caring sessions, sleep accommodation and meals provision.

“Online purchases have contributed to Salvos Stores raising over $39.5 million last year for Salvos programs helping vulnerable Australians experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, financial hardship, drug and alcohol rehabilitation,” she said.
