Retailers can now be Australia Post pick-up and return points
Logistics provider Australia Post has partnered with fulfilment firm Doddle to expand its collect and return network across a number of supermarkets, pharmacies, department stores and property partners.
IGA supermarkets, Priceline pharmacies, Aventus Group’s shopping centres, as well as assets managed by 151 Property Retail will be part of the initial roll-out of sites, with more to be added next year.
“We are determined to provide our customers with services that make their online shopping experience seamless and even easier to access,” said Australia Post general manager of parcel and express services Ben Franzi.
“We’re excited to be working with Doddle and retail partners to give customers the flexibility they’ve been after, the ability to collect and return parcels when and where it suits them.”
Booktopia and Peters of Kensington will be the first merchants to offer customers access to the service, with customers able to select from new collection sites at checkout in early 2020.
Additionally, the new service will also allow customers returning goods to generate an online barcode to be scanned in store, rather than needing to print one, which will enable retail partners to accept Australia Post returns over the counter. The package will then be picked up by an Australia Post courier.
“Pick-up services are the fastest growing delivery option globally and with 35 per cent of Australian consumers picking up an online order last year, the potential in this market is huge,” said Justin Dery, chief executive of Doddle Asia-Pacific.
“We look forward to working with Australia Post to provide greater convenience to consumers and support online retailers with delivery solutions that drive customer loyalty.”
