Online retailers discuss holiday sales plans

Retailers are working around the clock to close every sale they can before the holidays.

And while bricks-and-mortar stores still bear the brunt of the silly season, an increasing number of consumers are buying gifts online.

According to a recent report by Commonwealth Bank, more than 13 million Australians plan to do part of their Christmas shopping online. That’s over half of the total population, and one million more than last year.

What’s driving this growth? And how are e-commerce businesses handling the increased traffic?

Internet Retailing editor Heather McIlvaine asked three people in the industry to share their thoughts via voice memo. And she spoke to e-commerce consultant Lou Simpson about their answers.
