New global shopping site taps into cross-border boom

US-based e-commerce solution provider Pitney Bowes has launched a global shopping site.

Borderfree.com features more than 200 international retailers from Australia, the US and the UK that use the company’s cross-border e-commerce solution, including Adore Beauty, Macy’s and Harrods.

The website aims to boost the international profile of Pitney Bowes’ retail clients, while also showcasing the company’s cross-border solution, which lets consumers use their preferred payment method and local language and currency at checkout.

“We are supporting our clients by providing additional exposure through the Borderfree.com site. All ordering is done at the retailer’s site,” Pitney Bowes’ senior vice president of business development for global e-commerce Gregg Zegras told Internet Retailing.

“What we are offering is a uniquely global online shopping experience for Australian consumers as well as consumers around the world.”

As of November 30, over 150,000 shoppers had created a free account with Borderfree.com, gaining access to member-only offers, as well as multi-merchant order tracking and other shopping conveniences.

“Shoppers like options and they have a choice to visit direct to retailer’ sites and popular marketplaces around the world and they can also visit Borderfree.com to check out various retailers,” Zegras said.

Australian shoppers can sign up to Borderfree.com and shop a variety of retailers from the US and UK, while consumers in other countries can also shop Australian retailers on the site.

According to Pitney Bowes’ own data, 86 per cent of surveyed Australians have shopped cross-border in the last year. And over Black Friday this year, Australia was ranked third out of 135 countries and territories placing orders with US retailers.

Borderfree.com is a resource for the growing population of shoppers looking for items that they cannot find locally.

Borderfree.com has also released a gift guide for the holidays to further promote retailers offering a seamless cross-border shopping experience.
