New commerce solution targeting midsize businesses

Software giant SAP has unveiled a new commerce solution for midsize retailers, consumer packaged goods companies and direct-to-consumer businesses.

The platform, SAP Upscale Commerce, is targeted at “price-sensitive” midmarket businesses that are interested in opening micro-storefronts online.

“Many midmarket companies want to be able to deploy smaller brands and pop-up stores in just a few days to test new products and markets,” SAP president of customer experience Alex Atzberger said.

The platform uses artificial intelligence to automatically identify what works best and help users to focus on channels that offer strong profit opportunities.

It also supports mobile-first shopping and an endless aisle app, which allows customers to see what products are available in the store they are in and where products are available if not in that store, on their phones.

“Speed to market is the greatest factor for competition in business,” Atzberger said.

“By providing our customers with the openness and flexibility to develop new products in under an hour as opposed to months, we set them up for ongoing success in this always-on world.”
