Mon Purse set to open standalone store in US

Mon Purse is taking a big step forward in the bricks-and-mortar retail space with the announcement of its first standalone store in the US this week.

The store will be located in the Short Hills shopping centre in New Jersey, replacing the previous tenant, Dior.

“This is an incredible milestone for Mon Purse. We are extremely excited about this particular location, because the mall is part of a very rare breed. Short Hills Shopping Mall boasts a AAA rating and an unparalleled shopping experience for customers — ultimately, experience is everything for us,” said Lana Hopkins, founder of Mon Purse.

Since first launching as a pureplay online retailer in 2014, Mon Purse has launched successful concessions in department stores around the world, including Myer, Selfridges and Bloomingdales.

“The reaction and traction from the US market in just five months since opening our first Bloomingdale’s store has been phenomenal. Our expansion into the UK and US is first and foremost a humbling and inspiring experience. The success validates our plans to further grow the brand in the US,” Hopkins said.

Mon Purse lets customers design their own handbags and leather accessories both online and in-store.

Using 3D modelling software and Mon Purse’s Bag Builder tool, customers can select from a range of leather colour, texture and interior lining options, as well as hardware and monogramming finishes, to design their own bag.

According to the company, there are over 10 billion possible design combinations.

Mon Purse has also worked with inspiring women, such as Laura Brown, editor in chief of InStyle America, to create authentic, meaningful collaborations.

“Mon Purse is the first handbag retailer globally to bring the ‘design-your-own’ concept online and instores,” Hopkins said.

“We travelled the world to find our tanneries and atelier, hand-selecting quality leathers and raw materials, and working with generational craftsmen – all to bring the process to you in your own home.”

Customers in the US can visit the Short Hills store or use the Builder tool online to design their own handbag and have it delivered from Europe within four weeks.
