Kogan relaunches Dick Smith

Following the closure of the final bricks and mortar Dick Smith stores yesterday, Kogan.com has relaunched the electrical retailer as a pureplay online retailer and is out to win back customers.

Kogan.com acquired the Dick Smith brand and online business in March, after administrators failed to find a buyer to take on the embattled retailer as a going concern.

The new redesigned dicksmith.com.au and dicksmith.co.nz websites have gone live today, one month ahead of schedule.

“Dick Smith’s recent history has been disappointing for many Australians, but for millions of us, it is an iconic brand we all know and love. We will work hard to restore the faith Australians have put in the Dick Smith brand for almost 50 years,” said David Shafer, executive director of Kogan.com and Dick Smith.

The Kogan.com team built a fully responsive online platform for Dick Smith in under two months, leveraging the existing operations and logistics infrastructure of the Kogan.com business. The business is currently running a “Relaunch Sale” across  both sites.

“The efficiency with which we have been able to relaunch Dick Smith is the same efficiency that will see us deliver product and price leadership into the future,” said Shafer.

“We are extremely proud of the speed with which we were able to relaunch the Dick Smith online business, with a leading website, product range, and back-end systems to power the operation.”

The electrical retailer has a range of more than 5,500 products including a full range of the latest smartphones (Samsung, Apple, Kogan), cameras (Canon, Nikon, Swann), tablets (iPads, Android), home appliances (Breville, Bissell, Kogan). More than 1800 products are available for fast dispatch.
