Former eBay exec Shaun Cornelius appointed Hey You CEO

Shaun Cornelius, founder of Choosi, and more recently the former CEO of OurDeal.com.au, has been named the new CEO of Hey You, an app which allows you to order ahead at local cafés.

Cornelius will lead the company in its next growth phase following a $2 million funding injection from existing investors Reinventure and Exto Partners.

Cornelius was part of eBay Australia’s leadership team and held various roles such as finance director and category management director.

Hey You founder, Rebekah Campbell, said the appointment is pivotal to the company’s next stage.

“Shaun’s experience will be invaluable to the company as we enter a stage of growth focused on investing in our product roadmap and solidifying our position in the market,” she said.

Cornelius joins Hey You as a seasoned entrepreneur, his latest project Our Deal was sold to Groupon in 2015. Prior to this, he founded insurance comparison site Choosi and led Infochoice, which was sold to iSelect.

“Hey You is an exciting business with a highly engaged set of merchants and customers,” said Cornelius. “The market is evolving and there is huge opportunity for Hey You to further expand its footprint. I’m looking forward to working with Rebekah Campbell and the team to lead its product vision and strategy into its next stage of growth.”

Since merging with Beat the Q, E-Coffee Card and Posse in January 2015, Hey You is now processing 13,000 transactions every business day and is used by 200,000 Australians in more than 700 venues.
