Food inflation drives grocery price comparison site traffic

Price comparison website NZ Compare says visitor traffic jumped 11 per cent in the past three months as people grapple with inflation and rising costs.

Launched in 2016, the company operates price comparison websites that help consumers make informed decisions on a range of products including broadband, fuel, power, financial products, groceries and online purchases.

The company says its grocery price comparison website – – has witnessed the “biggest” percentage increase in traffic during the past two months.

Grocery price rises have really started to hit Kiwis in the pocket as the effects of inflation bite, said Gavin Male, CEO at NZ Compare. “We’re glad to help with FoodMe, even if it is one of the services that we desperately need to develop further.”

The company is currently seeking investors to grow and scale the business in New Zealand and overseas markets. It is also selling its shares to facilitate new product launches and services.

In August, about 340,000 visitors used the website’s services with the numbers expected to go up by Christmas.
