eBay to open new shipping supplies store
The eBay logo is about to become a lot more visible in the US, after the marketplace announced this week it will create its own eBay branded boxes for sellers.
The boxes will be sold through a new online supplies store, along with eBay tape and envelopes.
A spokesperson for eBay Australia said for now the boxes will only be available in the US, however eBay Australia currently offers flat rate branded satchels locally.
The new boxes will take advantage of the valuable advertising real estate packaging provides, and give provide consumers with an understanding of the volume of packages processed through eBay.
“We’re not only excited to introduce eBay branded shipping supplies to our customers, but to do so in a cost-effective, eco-friendly and convenient manner that satisfies the needs of our sellers,” said Manish Joneja, head of North America shipping business for eBay.
The eBay Shipping Supplies store will be operated by a third-party fulfillment partner with a license to use the eBay trademark. Initially, sellers will be able to buy 100 per cent recyclable boxes in 10 different sizes; “airjacket” bubble mailers; “polyjacket” mailers; and premium quality tape.
