DoorDash launches disaster relief fund in Australia

Food delivery company DoorDash has launched a disaster relief fund to support Australian restaurants impacted by natural disasters.

In 2021, the company launched the fund in the US and Puerto Rico to help small business clients recover from floods and other natural events – now it will expand the program to Australia.

DoorDash’s GM for Australia, Puji Fernando, said Australian businesses are “all too familiar” with the devastating impact of natural disasters.

“At the heart of this initiative is helping small businesses when they need it most. It’s simple – by helping small businesses bounce back, we help local communities bounce back.”

To apply for the grant, restaurants must have between one and three physical stores, have fewer than 50 employees per location and be open for at least six months.

Businesses impacted by an eligible state or federally-declared natural disaster can apply for the grant which has a current conversion to approximately A$15,000.

The funding cycles will take place across three rounds:

  • July 6 – September 30, 2023.
  • October 3 – December 31, 2023.
  • January 3 – March 29, 2024.
