DFO launches AR-based in-centre competition

DFO owner Vicinity Centres and Melbourne-based augmented reality (AR) start-up Plattar have launched a new competition designed to “celebrate the DFO shopping experience”.

David Henderson, Vicinity Centres marketing director, said the collaboration to launch the new AR competition is for DFO customers who were always looking for new and unique shopping experiences.

To join, Vicinity Centres said customers should download the DFO Insider app on their device found on Apple or Google store, look for the competition boxes throughout DFO, scan the code, interact with the AR scenes to find hidden coins and collect three for a chance to win.

“We’re working to leverage digital technology to enhance the customer experience in-centre while still giving customers an opportunity to see, touch and try their products before purchasing,” Henderson said. “This is an experience online retail cannot match.”

The competition, which allows customers to play and win more than $40,000 in DFO Gift Cards, will last until April 28 and is available at all six DFOs: South Wharf, Essendon and Moorabbin in Victoria, DFO Homebush, DFO Brisbane and DFO Perth.

“We know our customers at DFO love the thrill of the find whether it’s the brands, bargain or both with up to 70 per cent off every day of the year,” Henderson said. “We’re looking forward to sharing the augmented reality experience with the DFO fanbase.”
