CrowdSauce Selected for Web 2.0 Expo Startup Showcase
Australian Social Media Application, CrowdSauce Selected for Web 2.0 Expo Startup Showcase
CrowdSauce, Let’s You Ask For Deals From Businesses You Love
March 17, 2011, Melbourne, Australia – Australian social media application CrowdSauce, has been nominated to compete in the Startup Showcase at this year’s Web 2.0 Expo to be held in Moscone West, San Francisco from March 28 to March 31, 2011.
CrowdSauce will be competing against 30 other social media startups mainly from the United States.
The social media application which went live less than three weeks ago allows users to request a deal from their favourite business using the ‘Reward Me’ button on the website or Location Aware iPhone application. Once a user requests a deal they have the option of setting up a virtual ‘Flash Mob’ via Facebook or Twitter to invite friends to also ask for a deal from that business, thus building the crowd around popular businesses.
As the crowd for businesses grow, those businesses will have the option of promoting deals to their crowd and active users in the CrowdSauce network will also be rewarded with additional incentives and benefits.
CrowdSauce founder and CEO Slade Sherman says that the app is designed to give people deals from the businesses they like, rather than the deal-of-the-day approach of blasting a single deal to a large database. “Deal-of-the-day sites send you a deal they want to sell you, our approach is to source deals for you based on what YOU want” says Sherman.
He continues “We allow a business to tailor a deal specifically for their crowd (those that have requested a deal from that business) and this gives the business more control and better engagement with their loyal customers.”
“There are some fantastic companies that will be featured at the Web2.0 Expo so we are excited to be nominated to showcase innovation coming out of Australia.”
CrowdSauce is currently available in Australia and the US. To join CrowdSauce, simply register at www.crowdsauce.com or download the CrowdSauce iPhone app at the Apple Store.
