Catch holds new members-only sales event

Catch is slashing prices on more than 100,000 products for its Club Catch members this Thursday for its first-ever Club Catch Day.

The online retailer has been advertising discounts of up to 87 per cent on a wide range of items for the past four weeks. The sale kicked off on Thursday, 28 February, at 9am, with new deals announced every hour on the hour.

Discounted items include mobile phone plans, Birkenstock sandals, Skullcandy headphones, the GoPro Hero 7 and others.

The sale appears to be similar to other members-only shopping events, such as Amazon’s Prime Day and Ebay’s Plus Weekend, which advertise massive sales on popular items to incentivise people to join their membership programs.

Like Amazon’s Prime program and Ebay’s Plus program, Club Catch offers members deals on shipping, exclusive discounts and other perks.

Club Catch members pay $69 a year, or $6.50 a month, to get access to free shipping on eligible orders over $45. In comparison Amazon Prime members pay $6.99 a month and get free two-day shipping on Prime products.

Catch declined to say how many members are in its Club Catch program, but it makes sense that it would be aiming to boost the numbers. Membership programs offer stronger incentives to users to shop with a particular retailer than the average loyalty, since people have actually paid to be part of it.

“We value the support of all our shoppers and Club Catch Day is our way of giving back to our most loyal regulars,” Nati Harpaz, CEO of Catch Group, said.

“Club Catch continues to grow and these customers are our biggest fans, it’s important that we show them just how much we appreciate them, Club Catch Day is one way of thanking them.”

Nati Harpaz is a founder of Octomedia, Internet Retailing’s publisher. He was recently ranked 9th on Internet Retailing’s Top 50 People in E-Commerce.
