Australia Post recruits 3500 seasonal workers for Christmas period

Australia Post and StarTrack have opened recruitment for over 3500 seasonal positions across Australia to manage elevated parcel volumes ahead of the Christmas peak.

The recruitment is open for licensed truck drivers and forklift operators, in addition to positions for parcel sorters, freight handlers, and van drivers.

The hiring drive spans all Australian states and territories, led by Victoria with over 1100 roles, followed by NSW and Queensland with more than 900 roles each.

SA and WA are each recruiting over 300 positions, while Tasmania, the ACT, and the NT are seeking more than 20 workers each.

Applications for heavy vehicle driver positions opened in early September, while processing, freight handling, and van driving roles begin onboarding in mid-October.

The seasonal intake follows a record year for the logistics provider, which delivered 111 million parcels during the pre-Christmas period last year.

Sue Davies, executive GM of people and culture at Australia Post, noted that seasonal roles require no prior experience for parcel processing facilities, serving as both temporary income options and entry pathways into permanent careers within the organisation’s workforce.

“Seasonal roles are a great way to earn extra income ahead of Christmas while working alongside a welcoming and supportive team,” said Davies. “Whether you’re behind the wheel, operating a forklift or helping sort parcels, every person plays a part in helping us deliver for customers and communities right across Australia.”

Recently, Australia Post launched a marketing campaign, ‘Big Boss Energy’, aimed at providing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with promotional platforms to expand their reach to consumers.
