Amazon to open its first Australian ‘sort centre’ in Melbourne

Amazon Australia says construction of its first sort centre facility in the country has commenced in Melbourne.

The 15,600sqm operations facility will open this year, located at Goodman Group’s new Amaroo Business Park in Craigieburn.

Craig Fuller, director of operations, Amazon Australia said: “We know the past few years have been tough for Melbournians and we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to support our Victorian customers by helping them get the items they need delivered to their homes and supporting thousands of small and medium-sized Australian businesses in reaching their customers more efficiently.”

The purpose-built sort centre located in the north of Melbourne will enhance the company’s delivery speed for customers across the country.

The fifth Amazon facility in Melbourne, it will create over 200 jobs ranging from entry-level to specialist roles and leadership positions.
