The list includes professionals from major online retailers, including Outland Denim, Booktopia, Rollie and Adore Beauty, and celebrates the biggest and brightest talents in the Australian e-commerce space.

2021 saw e-commerce thrust into the spotlight and forced many new customers to jump online and try out what has long been seen as a ‘nice to have’ by many businesses. And thanks to the efforts of many of the hard working professionals in the Top 50, that experience was incredibly positive.

Mathers, who has long championed sustainable online retailing practices, took home the top prize in 2019 as well, and finished second in 2020.

Top 50 Judge Heather McIlvaine said she was proud to bring the report together following the year that was, noting it’s never been more important to celebrate Australia’s e-commerce leaders.

“2020 was a year like no other for the retail sector, and e-commerce leaders stepped up in a big way. That was clear to see in the record number of applications we received for this year’s Top 50 People in E-Commerce,” McIlvaine said.

“The people on this year’s list played a critical role in keeping retail running, from helping brands pivot to booming Covid categories, to launching new online delivery solutions virtually overnight.

“At the same time, they enabled Australians to shop safely for home office supplies, books, toys, face masks and more when Covid-19 made it risky to shop in-store.”
