Shippit buys tech rival Premonition

Logistics start-up Shippit has acquired Australian technology firm Premonition for an undisclosed amount.

The SaaS company was established in 2016 and provides logistic companies with software to optimise and operate their transport networks.

Shippit’s co-CEO Will On said the pandemic was a turning point for retailers and Shippit alike creating an overwhelming demand for last-mile logistics providers.

“We will continue to prioritise technology that tackles the challenges of rapid e-commerce growth across the online retail ecosystem. We strive to bring our carrier networks closer to our retailers for a seamless end-to-end delivery experience that boosts customer satisfaction while keeping track of where goods are, at any given point throughout the delivery journey,” said On.

Premonition co-founder Brad Lorge said the brand has a unique opportunity to ‘rethink’ how logistics providers can operate when there is unprecedented demand.

“Shippit and Premonition are uniquely placed to lead the e-commerce delivery revolution for carriers and retailers alike.”

In the past year, Premonition has assisted over 40 million deliveries nationwide helping more than 3000 drivers every day. Together the companies will enable carriers’ operational efficiencies by up to 30 per cent.
