LISTEN: Tony Nash talks acquisitions, growth and customer happiness
Retail Insights Podcast Episode 1 – Tony Nash – Booktopia
In the first interview of the Retail Insights podcast series, produced by sister site Inside Retail, we talk to Tony Nash, CEO and founder of Australia’s leading online book retailer – Booktopia. Tony describes the humble beginnings of Booktopia as a small business with no budget operating as an adjunct in his family run marketing consultancy.
With 30 per cent year on year growth, Booktopia has developed into Australia’s leading online bookstore. In recent years Booktopia has moved to a cutting edge distribution centre in Sydney’s west, so as to “delight” its customers by fast product delivery.
In more recent times Booktopia has acquired its main Australian competitor – Bookworld (incorporating Angus and Robertson) as well as Dirt Cheap Cameras (DCC) while working towards an IPO. With Amazon.com always in the shadows, the rise and rise of Booktopia is a fascinating story and one that all retailers and budding entrepreneurs need to listen to.
