Photoroom launches AI-powered visual aid tools in partnership with Depop

Photoroom, an AI photo-editing software company, has collaborated with Depop, a fashion e-commerce platform, to provide its retailers and small businesses access to its artificial intelligence photo editing tool, Visual Ads Automation.

In addition, the company has acquired GeneratBanners with secured funding of $43 million to launch its first-generation AI tool, which can generate AI images with automated text drawn from a customised, on-brand catalogue.

“The new API lets teams generate on-brand visuals programmatically, at any scale, slashing costs and boosting performance,” said Matt Rouif, Photoroom’s co-founder and CEO.

By establishing rules for on-brand catalogue content, the tool generates a wide range of new variations while offering automated and rule-followed editing features, including background removal and generation, shadow maker, and image editing.

“When you need the same product shot in 10 languages and 50 formats, traditional creative workflows break,” said Rouif.

Other visual production features for advertising campaigns include display and performance ads, social and e-commerce banners, multi-channel campaigns, product catalogue creations, and offered collections.

“Visual Ads Automation opens a new era in digital marketing: any static product catalogue can now turn into a programmatic ad engine that scales on demand,” said Thibaut Patel, GenerateBanners’ founder.
