NZ Post buys half of third-party logistics business in e-commerce play

NZ Post has bought up half of Kiwi-owned Supply Chain Solutions in order to provide an end-to-end service to e-commerce customers.

The SCS will remain a standalone business run by founder Brad Lindsay, but will provide “market leading e-commerce fulfilment services” to NZ Post’s existing domestic, import and export operations, according to NZ Post executive general manager of investments and ventures Norbert Bojarski,

And, as of 30 June 2022, NZ Post will shutter its own third-party logistics operations: Contract Logistics.

“E-commerce is the future for NZ Post, and providing end-to-end logistics and delivery to support e-commerce businesses to grow makes sense for us,” said Bojarski.

“Partnering with Supply Chain Solutions will allow [this] for our customers.”

Lindsay said SCS is very proud to be partnering with the postal service, stating it was important for them that they continue to be owned and operated within New Zealand.

“With NZ Post as a shareholder we know we are working alongside a trusted and historic New Zealand business that’s been around for over 180 years,” said Lindsay.

“Like NZ Post, we are deeply customer centric, our customers exist at the centre of everything we do. Between us, we are looking forward to supporting local e-commerce businesses to succeed.”
