MedTech start-up wins Emerging Retailer of the Year award
Medcart, an online marketplace that was originally conceived to streamline the way healthcare organisations and workers locate and procure personal protective equipment (PPE), has been announced as the Emerging Retailer of the Year for 2022 at the National Retail Awards.
The MedTech start-up, launched in 2021, allows businesses and consumers to source products from over 60 different distributors and manufacturers globally, and the retailers that sell those products to showcase them on Medcart’s marketplace without needing their own website.
The portal was built on Marketplacer platform, a global platform that enables brands, retailers, suppliers and manufacturers to build and grow successful online marketplaces, and Marketplacer fulfils all the back-end functions for the retailers – such as Medcart – that use the platform.
Medcart have grown rapidly in the 15 months since launching, growing their product range from 2000 to over 12,000 and hitting the milestone of $10 million in revenue. The company’s next target is the delivery of medical and pharmacy products within an hour of customers ordering them.
“We are thrilled to be honoured as Emerging Retailer of the Year for 2022 at the National Retail Awards, and know that this accolade would simply not have been possible without Marketplacer,” Dylan Bookless, MedCart’s CEO, said.
“The team were able to get Medcart up and running in such a short period of time and we worked hand in hand to launch a platform that allowed Medcart to scale quickly,” Bookless added. “Marketplacer has supported our operations and the technology will help us achieve strong growth in the years ahead while continuing to be a valuable technology partner for Medcart in the future.”
Britt Rinker, Vice President of Customer Success and Growth at Marketplacer, congratulated Medcart on winning such a “prestigious” industry award.
“It is a testament to [Medcart’s] energy, innovation, and forward-thinking strategy,” Rinker said. “We love partnering with our customers to build new business opportunities in the marketplace economy.”
