Marley Spoon tests demand for premium with dinner party box
Meal kit company Marley Spoon is exploring the potential of home entertaining, with the launch of a limited edition dinner party box in collaboration with Tanqueray Gin and food critic Matt Preston.
The $269 box includes all the ingredients for a three-course meal for six, a selection of Tanqueray London Dry Gin cocktails as well as hosting tips from Matt Preston.
Consumers can choose between a Korean and French menu, with ingredients sourced locally and pre-portioned to avoid food waste.
There is also the option of a more high end experience as consumers can upgrade their box with a bottle of Tanqueray Nº TEN for $299.
“One of the key values of Marley Spoon is that we make healthy and delicious weeknight cooking as easy as possible. The Tanqueray x Marley Spoon ultimate dinner party box allows us to bring our key values to passionate Australian home cooks who love to host social events too,” Olivia Andrews, culinary director and co-founder of Marley Spoon Australia said.
The latest partnership taps into the growing trend of home entertaining. A 2018 trends report by the Future Laboratory in the UK declares “new roles of food and drink will involve inspiration, connection and education” and calls for food and drink brands to “elevate convenience, cater for time-pressed consumers…and reinvigorate eating and drinking at home.”
“Sharing meals with friends and family is one of life’s greatest and simplest pleasures, and with this never-before-seen coming together of Marley Spoon expertise, with cocktails from Tanqueray and curation by Matt Preston we look forward to giving keen cooks the tools to prepare a meal for guests, showcase their culinary skills and deliver a truly unique experience,” Andrews added.
The Tanqueray x Marley Spoon ultimate dinner party box launches pre-order on February 10 until March 29, with deliveries commencing from March 9 to April 5.
