Kathmandu revives iconic lizard logo to raise funds for wildlife

Kathmandu is bringing back its lizard icon for the first time in a decade for a limited-edition run of fundraising T-shirts to restore landscapes and create habitats for threatened wildlife in Australia, following the recent bushfires.

All profits from the range will be donated to Greening Australia.

“The lizard was a much beloved Kathmandu icon in the ’90s, bringing it back to help raise money for the lost habitats of so many Australian species was an easy decision for us,” said Ben Ryan, Kathmandu general manager of product.

“Australia is part of our whanau (extended family) and as such we have a responsibility to help restore the millions of hectares of land lost and reduce the suffering of local wildlife.”

The limited-edition tee, available online now in sizes for men and women, has been made with the Better Cotton Initiative and, according to Kathmandu, features an integrated Polygiene finish to help control odours, so it can be washed less often, saving water that can be put to better use.

Greening Australia has been restoring and conserving Australia’s landscapes for over 38 years and is focused on tackling Australia’s greatest environmental challenges.

It’s acting for Australia’s threatened species with an ambitious ecological restoration program to plant half a billion trees across Australia by 2030.
