Global data analysis shows TikTok booming, Google searches slipping

TikTok and Snapchat have experienced explosive engagements over the past two years, reflecting the dominance of digital entertainment online worldwide.
Domo’s 12th edition of Data Never Sleeps shows that TikTok users upload 16,000 videos every minute, and Snaps sent surged 37 per cent from 2022.
Moreover, on Facebook and Instagram, 138.9 million reels are played every minute.
On the other hand, Netflix streaming declined 19 per cent to 362,962 hours from 2021. Google searches dropped 6 per cent to 5.9 million this year from last year.
The study noted that Siri answers more than 1 million questions every minute, while Google’s Gemini draws 8574 visitors in the same timeframe.
“The phenomenal acceleration of generative AI over the past two years has dominated the digital conversation, and this year’s Data Never Sleeps shows how we’ve reached a new tipping point – AI is primed to dethrone competitive mainstays of the internet era,” said Josh James, Domo CEO and founder.
“In the year ahead, we’ll be watching how this shift changes our broad range of digital activity, impacts the competitive landscape, and accelerates corporate investment in AI-ready data and tech.”
Online shopping still continues to thrive. Globally during Cyber Week, Doordash booked US$126,763 in orders and shoppers spent $43.6 million on purchases every 60 seconds.
