Free hemming service for Australian clothing retailers hits Shopify
A free hemming service has been launched on the Shopify app store by social enterprise Hello Tailr to give Australian retailers the chance to offer an alterations service to their customers.
The ‘perfect fit’ service will support online retailers without them needing to do any work themselves. It will create a hemming option on the product pages once installed, giving customers the chance to select it at checkout.
Hello Tailr said it will email customers after it receives the product to capture measurements before carrying out the alterations and returning it.
“For a traditional store to offer this well, it’s essentially not worth the effort”, said Owen Parry, founder of Hello Tailr. “You need people who can sew, and you need to fit that into your e-commerce and warehouse workflows. Unless alterations are one of your core selling points, it never stacks up.”
The social enterprise’s network of partners is responsible for carrying out the alterations. So far, they claim to have repaired or altered more than 1400 items.
“Now any Australian brand on Shopify can offer a hemming service just by installing an app,” Parry added. “Set up takes minutes.”
