Former Dick Smith CIO Paul Keen joins Airtasker

Paul Keen, the former CIO of Dick Smith, has landed a new job as chief technology officer at Airtasker, an online marketplace to outsource everyday tasks.

Having previously held roles with RedBalloon and Salmat Digital, Keen joined Dick Smith in November 2013 and was responsible for building the electronics retailer’s online offering.

At Dick Smith, Keen lead a cross-functional internal team responsible for the ERP, digital, supply chain and POS managing revenues in excess of $1.4 billion.

Dick Smith’s online business was acquired by Kogan.com this week, for an undisclosed sum.

In other Dick Smith news, customers who purchased products at Dick Smith will have their warranties honoured by Dick Smith’s provider of extended warranty services.

The Warranty Group says it will honour valid claims under extended warranties sold on every product at Dick Smith to date. This includes 135,000 extended warranties that were left exposed when Dick Smith went into receivership in January.

“The closure of Dick Smith retail stores is unfortunate and we want to give our loyal customers the peace of mind we promised when they chose to buy products from Dick Smith,” The Warranty Group’s director of sales for Southeast Asia Hemaka Perera said.
