Etsy launches Pattern, a DIY websites builder
Online marketplace, Etsy, has launched a new service called Pattern by Etsy, enabling sellers to create their own e-commerce websites outside the marketplace.
Pattern by Etsy is integrated with a seller’s Etsy shop and imports all shop listings and content, syncs orders and inventory between sites, provides analytics integrated with Etsy shop stats, and uses the same tools for checkout and shipping Etsy sellers already use.
“We know that more than half of our sellers already sell through other channels (even though our research shows Etsy remains their largest source of income), and Pattern aligns with our long-term goal of supporting our sellers wherever they choose to pursue commerce,” said CEO Chad Dickerson.
Sellers can try Pattern for free with a 30-day trial, after which Pattern is only $15/month, on top of existing Etsy fees.
“We know from our research that more than a third of Etsy sellers are interested in opening a commerce site of their own, but many have found the process to set up and maintain a custom site too difficult,” Etsy SVP of product Mike Grishaver wrote in a blog post.
In addition to Pattern, Etsy has also redesigned shops on Etsy, making them more customisable, modern and mobile friendly.
