Delivery Hero snaps up Suppertime

Online takeaway platform, Delivery Hero, has acquired restaurant delivery service, Suppertime.

Suppertime is positioned as a premium restaurant delivery service, partnering exclusively with restaurants that don’t deliver to bring food lovers their favourite dishes at both their homes and places of work.

The deal will see Suppertime expand its national footprint beyond Sydney and Melbourne, while still operating as an independent brand.

Suppertime MD, Toon Gyssels, said the news is the next step in Suppertime’s ambitious growth plans, which have already seen the brand expand services to Melbourne last month.

“Suppertime is currently experiencing a serious growth spurt. In the last two months alone we’ve grown our orders and restaurants by 250 per cent and 400 per cent respectively.

“We’re looking forward to leveraging the Delivery Hero partnership to advance our reach as we continue to revolutionise the way people think of delivery,” said Gyssells.

Suppertime’s restaurant partners include hatted restaurants like Akis and Golden Century, cult sandwich joint Mr Crackles, crowd favourite authentic pizza +39 pizzeria, beloved burger brand Chur Burger, and the infamous Vietnamese restaurant Mama’s Buoi.

“Our philosophy is to partner with the best in the business of good food. This means we work with restaurants that typically don’t deliver to bring foodies their favourite dishes at both their homes and places of work. We have cutting edge technology and a fleet of dedicated drivers to guarantee a top notch experience,” said Gyssels.

The partnership comes as Suppertime’s Berlin-based parent, foodora, merges with Delivery Hero’s high-end restaurant delivery service, Urban Taste.

CEO of Delivery Hero Australia, Clive Thorpe, said the company is planning to invest heavily in growing foodora’s global brands, including Suppertime in Australia.

“With a combined reach of over 5000 restaurant partners in Australia, we understand that there is a very specific market for premium food delivery. Suppertime owns this segment and we’re excited to see where they’ll go with our support,” Thorpe said.

Delivery Hero currently operates in 34 markets across five continents with around 2000 employees.
