ClickFrenzy parent buys GrabOne

Tanarra Capital-backed Global Marketplace, which owns ClickFrenzy, is to acquire e-commerce and deals site GrabOne and assets from publisher NZME.

The acquisition, valued at $17.5 million, is set to be completed by the end of October. GrabOne will join Global Marketplace’s portfolio which includes online marketplace Click Central and publisher and e-commerce data platform Power Retail.

“GMP is a perfect fit as GrabOne’s new owner,” said Boggs. “With its dedicated focus on ecommerce and the digital marketplace, it’s well placed to explore and execute opportunities to grow GrabOne and support the GrabOne team even further.”

CEO of NZME, Michael Boggs, said GrabOne has contributed between $2.5 million and $3 million per annum of NZME’s earnings over the past two years.

Since 2010, GrabOne has grown into one of New Zealand’s biggest daily deals and e-commerce sites, offering experiences, services, products and travel deals all over the country and beyond.

“Combining the ecommerce, data and digital experience of both companies will allow us to deliver great outcomes for all of our key stakeholders including our merchants and consumers,” said Nathan Brown, CEO of Global Market NZ.

“For GMP, this acquisition will continue the growth and diversification of our growing ecommerce platforms as well as adding significant talent to the team.”
