BigCommerce bolsters checkout experience

E-commerce platform BigCommerce has launched a new software development kit (SDK), which it says will enable online retailers to fully customise their checkout without having to invest a lot of time or resources.

The SDK is aimed at reducing the rate of shopping cart abandonment, which can peak during checkout when customers are confronted with a long and confusing process.

“Checkout is one of the most valuable parts of a merchant’s online presence and determines whether a sale is made or lost, yet merchants have never had full control over its design or functionality due to the added complexity that accompanies the experience,” Jimmy Duvall, chief product officer at BigCommerce, said.

With the e-commerce platform’s new Checkout SDK, developers can build a custom checkout process, including one-page checkouts and custom payment options and a custom look and feel to align with website branding.

The SDK also ties in with with BigCommerce partners Bolt and Moustache Republic, which offer uses further options to streamline and speed up the checkout process.
