Australian Made Clothes collapses

Online retailer Australian Made Clothes has collapsed due to rising costs of operations and softening consumer demand.

The store sells a wide range of clothing for men, women and children and was instrumental in supporting independent Australian designers and promoting locally made products.

In a Facebook post, the company said “numerous challenges” had ultimately led to the “difficult decision” to cease operations.

“Increased competition from international retailers, changing market dynamics, and the impact of the ongoing global pandemic were among the key factors that contributed to the store’s closure,” the statement said.

Founder and CEO, James Bennett, described it as an “incredible journey” and said he was “immensely proud” to have served as a platform for Australian Made Clothes.

“We are grateful to our dedicated customers who have been with us on this journey. Thank you all so much.”

Despite closing its doors, the company has encouraged customers to explore buying from other local retailers and support independent businesses in the industry.
