Kogan launches own range of smart appliances and app

Kogan.com last week launched a new range of smart appliances under the brand, Kogan SmarterHome, along with an app to control their appliances wherever they are.

The online retailer launched the first two products, Kogan SmarterHome panel heaters, on 14 June, but said the full range will include smart plugs, bulbs, portable air conditioners and other items to be released throughout 2018.

“Today’s launch is just the beginning,” said Kogan.com director of exclusive brands, Sergiy Bobrovnychyy.

“Smart home technology is the future of simplifying our lives and now we get to help bring that future into the homes of more Australians.”

Customers can control every product in the SmarterHome range through Kogan’s free SmarterHome app, giving them more control over their homes and energy bills. Even non-smart devices can be controlled through the SmarterHome plugs.

For instance, customers can set their heater or air conditioning to automatically turn on or off at specific times of the day, or when temperatures reach a certain level.

App users can also select the ‘Back Home’ feature to do things automatically like turn on lights to a certain brightness, air conditioners or pedestal fans plugged into smart plugs, according to completely customisable settings.

The app also gives customers visibility into how much energy they use by day and month.

“Developing this technology hasn’t just been about making it more affordable. We’ve worked hard to ensure the entire Kogan SmarterHome experience is very simple,” Bobrovnychyy said.

“There’s no point having cool technology if it’s a pain in the neck to use. Our SmarterHome range is smarter, easier and better value. This is all part of our mission to make the most in-demand products and services more affordable for all Australians.”
