Ebay Australia launches how-to hub for cooking basics

Ebay Australia has launched a dedicated cooking hub called Kitchen 101 to help Australians learn the basics of cooking.

The hub was designed after researching some of the most-searched cooking queries on Google and includes links to product recommendations, making it easy for amateur chefs to get a head start with cooking.

Ebay also researched 1000 Australians on their basic culinary skills and cooking know-how.

Some key findings included:

• One in 10 Australians prefers their rice to be crunchy since it takes less time to boil it.
• More than 2.3 million people think cooked chicken will last for five days or more. (It doesn’t. According to Google: “A cooked chicken breast can last around three to four days in the fridge, and a raw chicken breast can last up to two days.”)
• More than 1 million Australians use a microwave to cook their pasta.

Top related cooking queries on Google include how to boil an egg, how to cook pasta, how to cook rice, and how long chicken lasts in the fridge.

Ebay Australia’s Sophie Onikul said the e-commerce website is stepping in as sous-chef to help aspiring home cooks gain more confidence.

“Our Kitchen 101 hub is a judgment-free zone where people can learn the kitchen essentials without being embarrassed to ask the basic questions and pick up some products to help.”
