Aussie sportswear brand brings Kanye collab Down Under

Australian sportswear brand 2XU will make a limited number of garments from its recent collaboration with Kanye West’s YEEZY label available to Australian customers on May 5.

Famously worn by Kim Kardashian and attracting millions of likes on her Instagram account, the YEEZY x 2XU neoprene shorts and tights will next weekend be available for purchase at 2XU’s Paddington store in Sydney, as well as online.

Customers must first join the YEEZY x 2XU community on or before May 5 and get to the Paddington store from 9am, where a random ballot will determine the lucky few who will have the opportunity to purchase one of the limited number of pieces.

To purchase online, customers must sign up to the community and receive a code and be among the first to enter their code from 12pm on May 5 to purchase an item from the collection.

Neoprene shorts are priced at $500, while the tights are $550; both garments are available in sizes XS, S, M and L. The garments use the same Yamamoto neoprene as 2XU’s wetsuits and are designed to be lightweight and flexible, providing superior heat retention to keep the body warm.

“2XU has been working closely with YEEZY to integrate high-performance technical fabrics into the world of fashion since early 2017, when the YEEZY team reached out to 2XU to seek our world-class fabric expertise for their SEASON 5 launch at New York Fashion Week,” said Jamie Hunt, 2XU co-founder and director of product development.

“The YEEZY design team loved the look and feel of our eco-friendly neoprene matte-finish fabric, and wanted to include this technology in the YEEZY range. We’ve now worked closely with YEEZY on their past three collections, and couldn’t be more excited to give Australians the opportunity to get their hands on the first of these YEEZY x 2XU garments.”

Since joining forces with YEEZY in early 2017, 2XU has provided technical fabric expertise, engineering and construction insights to the YEEZY design team. The range has extended to compression tights, tops and socks, jackets, shoes and more.
