Temu joins IACC to bolster global IP enforcement efforts
Temu has joined the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) as it ramps up efforts to strengthen intellectual property protection while expanding globally.
The Boston-headquartered e-commerce platform joins a network of more than 250 companies and organisations across 40-plus countries focused on combating counterfeiting and piracy. Temu says the move builds on its broader IP enforcement program, which it says has expanded significantly since its launch in 2022.
“Protecting intellectual property is essential when building a marketplace that consumers and brands can trust,” said a Temu spokesperson.
“Joining the IACC reflects our ongoing commitment to IP protection, and we look forward to constructive collaboration with industry peers and stakeholders.”
Temu will participate in cross-industry working groups and collaborate with brands, associations and enforcement agencies. The membership follows an earlier partnership between the two parties, which was signed last year.
“Addressing counterfeiting requires coordinated, cross-industry action. The IACC brings stakeholders together to align efforts and share best practices,” said Bob Barchiesi, president of the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition.
“We look forward to Temu’s active participation in our network as we continue advancing a safer and more trusted online ecosystem worldwide.”
Temu’s enforcement system spans the full platform lifecycle, including seller vetting, pre-listing screening and continuous monitoring.
The company claims more than 99.9 per cent of takedown requests are resolved within three business days. Its Brand Guardian Initiative, launched in 2024, now supports more than 1500 brands.
Temu currently operates in more than 90 markets, connecting consumers with manufacturers, brands and sellers worldwide as it continues to scale both its platform and compliance capabilities.
