Temu has become Australia’s fastest-growing retail brand, survey finds

Temu is Australia’s fastest-growing consumer retail brand, according to data from Fonto Market Metrics.

The global e-commerce platform attracted 1.35 million new Australian customers in the 2024/25 financial year, outpacing both homegrown favourites like Guzman y Gomez and Bakers Delight, and global giants Shein and Amazon in new customer growth.

“We’re grateful that Australians are choosing to shop with us. Our focus is on making it easier for people to find the products they need, at a quality and price that works for them, across many categories,” said a Temu spokesperson. 

“We also welcome local Australian businesses to join our platform, giving them another way to reach customers, diversify their sales, and grow through a low‑cost channel.”

Temu’s rapid growth reflects a shifting retail landscape in Australia, with consumers increasingly favouring accessible, online-first platforms. 

The company launched in Australia in March 2023 and now offers more than 600 product categories. Last month, it expanded its reach with the launch of its Local Seller Program, opening the platform to Australian merchants.

The platform now operates in more than 90 markets globally.
