Temu drives sales surge for Australian furniture brand Artiss

Melbourne-based furniture retailer Artiss has reported a sharp rise in sales after joining online marketplace Temu, with demand largely driven by younger Australians seeking budget-friendly home furnishings.

Since joining Temu in March, Artiss has sold more than 15,000 products and listed more than 1200 items, quickly rising to become the platform’s top-rated and best-selling local warehouse seller in the living room furniture category.

Among its standout performers is a $40 portable fabric wardrobe, which has sold more than 500 units since its debut.

“Temu’s discovery-driven shopping model has been a game-changer,” said Paul Barresi, channel growth manager at Artiss.

“It’s helped us reach younger Australians, those furnishing their first apartments, moving into share houses, or stepping into their first homes after school. Temu makes it easier to connect with this new generation of shoppers.”

The company’s success reflects wider shifts in both demographics and shopping behaviour. Australians aged 25 to 34 are increasingly opting to live alone, boosting demand for affordable, space-saving furniture tailored to smaller living arrangements.

Temu, a global e-commerce marketplace owned by Chinese tech giant PDD Holdings, opened its platform to Australian domestic sellers earlier this year. Since then, it has added 1.35 million new users across the country during the 2024–25 financial year, according to Fonto Market Metrics, making it one of the fastest-growing consumer marketplaces in the nation.
