SurfStitch appoints new CFO and company secretary
Troubled online surfing goods retailer SurfStitch has announced the appointment of Nigel Philips as CFO and Stephanie Belton as company secretary. Karen Birner, who currently serves in the dual role, announced her resignation at the end of September.
Philips previously worked at Quiksilver for eighteen years, with the majority spent in the roles of CFO and COO for the Asia Pacific region. He will take over as CFO on October 24 of this year.
“We are very pleased to have secured someone of Nigel’s experience across both finance and operations in the sports category. Coming from one of our key brand partners he understands and is well connected within the industry and will be a valuable addition to the team,” SurfStitch CEO Mike Sonand said.
Belton will replace Birner as company secretary with effect from November 1, 2016. She was appointed as general counsel for SurfStitch in September and has over 20 years corporate and commercial experience in Australia and the UK, including roles at Qantas Airways, P&O Group, Linklaters and Helloworld Limited.
